Kalimat is the first publishing house in the UAE dedicated solely to publishing and distributing quality Arabic children’s books with global production standards. Within three years, Kalimat has progressed from 5 titles to the current 75 titles and hopefully a 100 titles in 2011 including picture books, baby books, concept books, fables , young adult books and music CDs. We have won prestigious awards such as the Beirut Book Fair Award in 2009 and 2010 and UAE Best Publisher award. In keeping with the digital age, we have introduced technological innovations such as iPad and iPod applications for our book Al Dajaja Bak Beek.  We have launched a book club that ensures monthly delivery of an age appropriate book to your child wherever you are. Based in Sharjah, but active around the Arab world and in international book fairs, Kalimat produces books renowned for their distinguished design, eye-catching illustrations, and innovative content.

With input from the best Arab children’s authors and illustrators, Kalimat plans to publish at least 50 books every year for ages 0-16. Kalimat books handle themes such as parent-child relationships (Zein Series), milestones of growing up (Yasmina Series) re-workings of ancient Arabic fables (Kalila Wa Dimna Series), wearing the hijab (Tareeqati Al Khassa) and famous historical figures (Ibn Battuta). We have books dealing with rare but significant topics in children’s literature such as death and grief (Jaddati Wal Qamar), the environment (Haddiya Lee) and being left-handed (Ana Wa Yadi Al Yusra).
